When you purchase a product, would you like to know something about people who made the product for you?  Today I’ll give you a chance to know something about people who are working at SkaDate Dating Software. Intrigued? Me too.

First of all you should note for self – we all are a big harmonious family here. Peace, love and understanding everywhere %) Treat all that is written with humor.

Well, first of all I’ll tell you about our chief. We call him a captain. Captain Kaos. 

Great man. Very kind and sympathetic but strict when it’s needed. He plays guitar like a god and even was lead guitar in a local metal band =) I could write endlessly about his pro skills at CEO, but I will tell only about his human qualities. I’m really proud that I can ride with him down the flank of hill on the board, can tell him some latest jokes and ask for an advice in family relationship. We treat him with a respect as it is really a pleasure to report to his command. Thank you for leading us, captain.

Our CTO is a person, who is waiting for movies that will be released in 2015-2020 %) He keeps up with  all box offices and writing large posts on boards every time he watches a new movie. I assume all local movie theaters personnel know him as good as they know their children. He’s also a big fan of Terminator and his Honda. His PCs’ name in the work local network is T800 and the best movies ever are StarWars. It is always interesting to chat with him, he’s very broad-minded and has a HUGE ego =)

Designer DIS2FUJI is an extreme biker, pro in downhill, experienced skier, always ride on a high speed and what a heartbreaker he’s Very rarely you can see him without an earphones – he’s always listening to his Nokia 5310 Express Music. Fan of drum’n'bass and he has the most powerful computer at the office ^^ I guess he was living in a gym for a couple of years as he has very athletic body. But he says he was only doing push-ups. It’s hard to believe in that for me =) And his bike costs a couple of thousands.

One of other techs is a fan of anime and all that hardware stuff. Very skilled in economics, MBA and politics but simply sitting in his chair and coding. What a president could he become!!! But seems he prefers to be “what a programmer!!!” than to be a “what a president”. If you want to get the best computer for moderate price – he is the guy whom you should call first. Any kind of a consultation (even early in the morning) and lots of words that does not make any sense for me but sounds weighty =) I think he could earn much more if he wanted to.

Some guys from the team are fans of soccer, some cannot live without NBA or some online games, some ride their bikes, some own a car. We’re different, but no one is boring here. We are SkaDate Team!

Sometimes when I calculate my monthly bonuses I start thinking – what if my bonuses are more (or less) than other Sales Department operator depends on luck or concurrence but not on my skills?
Have you ever chat to a prospective buyer who is really in a bad mood? When every your question or answer causes only annoyance to a person regardless of your politeness and proficiency level. Or should each salesman be a psychologist a little to be successful and pro?
For example, you were planning to start your own dating site on Monday. But on Sunday you broke off with your girlfriend as she was cheating on you. For sure, such a situation really sucks, but hey!
On the one part your mood cannot be OK when you are having some problems. But this is not the reason to cancel all your plans and intentions, does it?
So, this is Monday, you said to yourself: “I’ll be strong!” and typed “dating software” in Google. You’re trying to hold your own. And here you found the product you like. “Mmm… They even have a Live Chat there. Let me try” – you think.
And what a surprise – your call was accepted by a operator whose name is e.g. Anna – the same name your ex-girlfriend has. I’m not that well in all psychoanalytical aspects of human behavior but I bet you will be in a low spirits after the way thing happened. As bottom line – operator behavior can really easily disappoint you only reminding you about your ex and this will definitely reduce the software purchase possibility. Doesn’t matter that all her replies were prompt and she was fully conversant with the matter – she will remind you about bad things happened in your life and this can affect upon the purchase.
There can be a lot of real-world examples of the situations when mood can really make a lot of things. Even if your morning toast almost burned this can cause some bad attitude.
Well, sometimes I wish I was real pro in all that psychological stuff and was able to help people to settle the matters of their low spirits. But as I’m not a psychologist, the only thing that can really help me to make people forget ’bout their problems – is the product I sell. Sometimes I use to say that our software can really change our customers’ life – and I’m not telling lies as sometimes the best way to settle or forget all your problems is to start working at something new. And when it can help you make your own business and start earning money – isn’t it the best starting point of changing your life (or making it maximum perfect)?
Well, anyway I don’t know the answer to the question if there’s a portion of luck in my work or I just have a lot of things to learn – hope I’ll find the answer soon and let you know about that Look forward for my new entries.

The Economy? Read all the articles you want, listen to the newscasts, look for all the “For Sale” signs and you’ll most likely say, that’s it! If the market were better, like it used to be, we would be making all kinds of sales. While that may be a great call, it’s not the right answer. There are still buyers out there. Don’t look at the 20 or 40%  drop in sales in your market, but focus on the 60% to 80% that is still out there. If you focus on the negative, that’s what you’ll get. Now, more than ever, you have to create more activities and do more follow-ups with them, then you’ve ever done. Guess it’s time to get back to work and stop being an order taker!

The Marketing Department? If the marketing department would just get their act together and create more leads, we would make more sales. The only way this might be true is, if your cut back your marketing budget or shut them down to adjust to the market. Then, you have fulfilled a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is probably the worst thing a company can do. There are still buyers out there and we need to be more creative than ever, in developing marketing campaigns that will create a call-to-action, for a call or a visit. Target marketing and working your referral base and Internet, are where you can make a difference, without spending a ton of money. It’s not the marketing department’s job to make sales. Their job is to create the awareness and activity.

Your PR Firm? That’s it. It’s the PR firm’s fault! You’ve been spending money every month and they have been getting you publicity, articles printed and story lines, but no one has called and bought one of your homes. If they just did a better job, we wouldn’t be so far behind. Wrong answer again. It’s not your PR firm’s job to make sales. Their job is to create public awareness. Always keep in mind, that the effectiveness of PR is how you use the information as a marketing tool, to help enhance the sale and give you creditability. It’s great third party testimonial. PR articles, and stories have a five-year shelf life. It’s not as important as who sees them initially; it’s how you use them to make a sale.

Your Sales Department? If you can’t blame the first three, then it has to be the sales department’s fault. Wow, glad we got that figured out! I am sure you’ve heard the saying, “nothing happens until someone sells something”. Wait; let’s not put the full blame here. There are other factors we should consider. If your company has stopped providing the sales people with tools, stopped advertising and not providing on-going training, then we can’t put all the blame here. Yes, sales are still out there,  however, the game has changed. It’s a whole different approach. What worked years back, does not necessarily work the same in this ecomony. As mentioned above, it’s all about getting back to work, being creative, and staying in touch with potential leads. No more cruising! It’s time to track, measure and manage all leads and activities. You can’t afford to let leads slip through the cracks. There is business out there. Are you going to get it, or are you going to let the competition beat you to the punch?

So Who Are You Going to Blame? “Wait, there is more to this, then the items you listed. You forgot to mention our specific market. Our market is different than others. We are unique. You just don’t understand.” It’s Our Market No matter where I have traveled in the past 18 months, no matter how bad the local market was or how many people were complaining, I always found individuals that were having a decent year and in some cases a great year. One builder/realtor in the northeast, I will just call him Dan B, told me that he was having his best year ever in 10 years! Mind you, the market area he was in was off 40%. Why is he successful, when everyone else is crying? His attitude! As part of a program that this builder/realtor attended, I handed out a sheet listing 48 Internet websites that you can list or post your homes. At the end of the program, he said he felt great because he was already using 32 of the 48 sites that I had mentioned. He is creative, he is pro-active, he is making sales, and he has the right attitude.

It’s all About Your Attitude! If you feel the market has gotten the best of you, you are 100% right. If you feel that no one is in a buying mode, your 100% right. Guess it comes back to, you’re attitude. It’s time to invest in yourself and improve your skills. It’s time to become a professional. Practice, reinvent yourself and then practice again.
